New joining generation for aluminium and CFRP

At the AEE, Ejot presents "Ejoweld REF", a new element for vehicle structure applications, expanding its technology portfolio. The "REF” joining element is hollow, geometrically based on the Ejoweld CFF and allows users to join aluminium and fibre reinforced plastic (FRP) panels to aluminium sheets. With the aid of a step-by-step controlled process, it is possible to produce connections that are optimized for the starting materials. A particular advantage, according to the manufacturer, is the option of processing the new "REF" element in a single system together with a CFF - this considerably increases the cost-effectiveness of the joining technology used. Only the specially adapted anvil and an additional conveyor have to be installed. The three material combinations Al/Steel, Al/Al and FRP/Al can be joined alternately with one piece of equipment by selecting the appropriate program and conveyor.
