AUTOMOTIVE ENGINEERING EXPO Newsroom
AEE – AUTOMOTIVE ENGINEERING EXPO will be held at the Exhibition Centre Nuremberg on 4–5 June 2019, with 84 exhibitors. The world’s only interactive forum covering the entire “painted car body” process chain, it will introduce trail-blazing developments covering everything from design through to final assembly. At the accompanying CONGRESS, the players in the industry will provide in-depth insights into the latest trends. The TOP themes for discussion will be digital development, flexible production, and new car body structures. All the details on the event programme are available at www.automotive-engineering-expo.com/en/events
At AEE 2019, top suppliers like Aleris, Altair Engineering, ArcelorMittal, AutoForm Engineering, Böllhoff Verbindungstechnik, CONSTELLIUM, EDAG Production Solutions, Fronius, Henkel, KIRCHHOFF Automotive, Laserline, Novelis, Salzgitter, SIKA Automotive, Tucker and TRUMPF will display laser and system technologies and many more technological solutions on all aspects of car body construction, painting and final assembly.
Brand new bodies and components to touch
What's going on in body construction? Which materials are new on the market? The AEE 2019 Innovation Park offers answers to these questions and much more. The Innovation Park contains the world's latest bodies and components. In addition to innovative body concepts and components, visitors can gain insight which makes benchmarking easy. In addition, the most important automotive groups present figures, data and facts on every body and every component. "In addition to complete lightweight bodies made of aluminum, CFRP components and structural components made of the latest materials such as Advanced High Strength Steels (AHSS) will be on display," says Franziska Moennig, Board Director of Automotive Circle International (ACI). "This is unique in the world! For example, BMW is presenting the CFRP roof of its 8 Series Coupé, which is manufactured using a new wet-pressing process.
Car bodies on-site:

Body parts on-site:
BMW i8 Roadster - Door system, BMW 8 Series Coupé - roof system, Opel Astra - A-pillar, Peugeot 508 - Door system, Volvo XC60 - Door system, PSA DS3 Crossback - Door system
AEE Innovation Stars: where stars point the way
Signposting concepts, groundbreaking products, multidisciplinary approaches: Which is the best? Which is the best for body construction? At AEE, it's the visitors themselves who decide and vote for the Innovation Award 2019 winner. The AEE Advisory Board has already made a preselection and marked important innovations with stars: The nominees are marked with the AEE Innovation Star 2019. The guided tours to the Innovation Stars start daily at 10 and 14 o'clock at the Innovation Park. OEM experts will guide the tours, and - along with the participants - vote on the best innovations at the fair. The winner will be announced on the 2nd day of the fair at 3 p.m. in the Product Briefing Forum (Stand 12-412).
AEE Masterclasses: Shaping the digital future
Understanding and helping to shape digitization - this is best achieved by immersing yourself directly in it with the digital pioneers and masterminds. In the 30-minute Masterclasses at booth 12-529, OEMs and exhibitors show current processes and applications and open up learning spaces to touch. Participants can try out the systems themselves and test them for their practical suitability. This is also the case in the Masterclass "Evolutionary production planning in real time" of DE Computing GmbH. Participants design a use case in which orders are reallocated to machines due to a machine lockout, add the machines again and experience their effects in real time. In the Masterclass "Highly dynamic machine set-up in the age of industry 4.0" presented by the University of Siegen. Experts from the University will present the "Expert to go": The virtual colleague supports machine operators during set-up processes with an innovative navigation system.
Deep Dives: Understanding the depth of processes
Industry experts provide newcomers and career changers with valuable practical knowledge on topics such as "Disruption of the Automotive Industry" by Dr. Michael Rupp from the Technical University of Central Hessen, which highlights the opinion of many experts that the global automotive industry is facing fundamental change. Other experts even speak of a destruction, a disruption of today's structures. Causes and visible signs of this: New technologies such as electric drives and autonomous driving as well as new mobility concepts. In addition, the advancing digitalization and new manufacturing methods from the industry 4.0 environment are bringing about a change in the production landscape. What will change in the future and what challenges will manufacturers and suppliers have to overcome in this process? Further deep dives will be held on topics such as hot forming of aluminium, current servo press technology or Smart Factory approaches and technologies in the press shop. All lectures conclude with a theme-specific tour of the fair - the ideal opportunity to expand networks with new contacts.
Product Briefings lead the way to the future
Innovations and developments explained directly by the manufacturers - this is possible on both days of the fair during the product briefings. Suppliers will be presenting their latest innovations, such as Evosys Laser GmbH, which is presenting laser welding as a cost-efficient joining technology for plastic components. The Automotive Center Südwestfalen presents the research project "Development of a frame in OneShot design". In future, this should enable functional integration and the reduction of production costs to be expanded with injection molded elements of the same type. The 15-minute Product Briefings will take place in the Product Briefings forum at booth 12-412. Afterwards, visitors will have the opportunity to talk to the exhibitors and get to know the products and services at the exhibitors' stands.
Congress themes also include materials and processes
The accompanying congress brings together 69 technical progress reports covering all aspects of the “painted car body” process chain. The TOP themes for discussion will be digital development, flexible production, and new lightweight car body structures. More than 80 international speakers will talk about the latest developments, introduce potential applications for new technologies and share their knowledge. Seven different OEM brands will also provide insights into the latest development successes in 13 OEM reports. To complement the programme of talks, theme-specific guided tours will link theory and practice and show how knowledge can be turned into models for success.
