Making cars safer and lighter

At the Automotive Engineering Expo 2019, Gestamp brings a package full of innovations and ideas to make cars safer and lighter. The company will be exhibiting a hinge column at its booth, which is manufactured using a completely new process. “Ges-Multistep” produces sheet metal parts made of Zn coated boron steel combining the best from cold and hot stamping. A high speed process who ensures better corrosion protections also for complex geometries. On 4 June 2019, the Spaniards will explain the process as part of the presentation "Multistep Hot Stamping Process, a revolutionary lightweighting technology" in the Innovation Alley, starting at 11 am.

Structural components take a core role in vehicle safety and their crash performance. Gestamp offers innovative solutions for products as A- and B-Pillars, Door Rings and Rails. In Nuremberg, Gestamp will present different concepts achieving cost and weight saving approaches and applying processes as BKT and Softzone Technology, Remote Laser and Spot Welding and Seam Tracking.

E-Mobility is a hot topic of today`s automotive industry and it also impacts the body car structure. All the Gestamp lightweight technologies can be applied on that. Gestamp has been working on innovative concepts to meet these specific requirements as special crash strategies and the use of new process technologies.
