EDAG-PS, engineering partner for project management and networked production engineering on the way to the factory of the future, is presenting two highlights at AEE 2019: the so-called "sofa collaboration" and the innovative VR paintshop.

The new "Sofa Collaboration" is the highlight of the EDAG PS stand and at the same time a contender for the Innovation and Sustainability Award. It allows engineers to literally participate in production engineering from the comfort of their sofa - from planning to maintenance, using the example of a lightweight cell in virtual commissioning with MCD, no matter where they are in the world.

EDAG-PS has linked the VR/AR world with planning and engineering tools for this purpose. The user uses AR glasses to project a virtual cell around a real interference contour. With a real teach pendant he has the possibility to program the digital twin of the robot. Other users can collaboratively participate with VR glasses and "dial in" to the scene in order to be able to walk through it virtually. In this way, projects can be worked on together from locations all over the world - saving both time and resources. Expensive travel times and expensive travel costs are a thing of the past. Production control from the sofa - horizontally networked with the factory. This is also how the work-life balance is achieved.

In addition, EDAG's Feynsinn brand is showing the "VR Paintshop" as part of the "AEE Masterclasses", with which participants can virtually train manual painting. With VR glasses and a real paint spray gun, participants can train and experience painting in the virtual spray booth. Users are particularly enthusiastic about the high degree of realism and the integrated feedback system. This provides real-time feedback on all relevant parameters: paint thickness, injection angle and speed. In comparison to conventional training methods, gamification is used here. The user is constantly motivated and challenged with high scores and challenges - until the perfect result is achieved.

With another simulation tool from EDAG PS, it is possible to secure the top coat for the exterior and interior coating already in the planning phase by means of robot simulation and later up to offline programming and virtual commissioning. Simulations in the areas of dip coating, oven and coating thickness are also part of the virtual coating portfolio at EDAG-PS.
